Chicken Stock: Warning Hazardous Material
I've heard of this happening but never thought it would happen somewhere I worked. Last night someone sat a stock pot on the floor and Chef Peter tripped and stepped in it. He was wearing shoes and thick socks which soaked up the boiling stock and by the time he got the socks off his ankle was one giant 1st or 2nd degree burn. As of this afternoon he was still in the hospital and they were discussing skin grafts (pig or cadaver, mmm what a choice?!) I suppose theres not really a point to this post other than to say that kitchens can be dangerous places and I hope he recovers quickly. After my little burn on two inches of my hand I can only imagine the pain of having your whole foot like that. Send some good thoughts/wishes/prayers/whatever-you-do down south for a scalded chef.
